Virus diagnostic test Calprotectin for Automatic immunoassay analyzer in Intestinal inflammation CLIA Reagents of Intestinal inflammation (Calprotectin)
Calprotectin is a calcium- and zinc-binding protein of the S-100 protein family which is mainly found within neutrophils and throughout the human body. The presence of calprotectin in faeces is a consequence of neutrophil migration into the gastrointestinal tissue due to an inflammatory process.

Calprotectin, a protein released by inflammatory neutrophils in the gastrointestinal tract. When the gastrointestinal tract is inflamed, neutrophils migrate to the inflamed area and release calprotectin, resulting in elevated fecal calprotectin. The main applications are to detect intestinal inflammation, differentiate between inflammatory bowel disease and non-inflammatory bowel disease, and monitor the activity of inflammatory bowel disease.
Fecal calprotectin, a plasma-encapsulated protein released by neutrophils or macrophages, serves as a marker of inflammatory cell activation in vivo. Clinically, the detection of fecal calprotectin can determine whether there is inflammation in the intestine
The normal value of fecal calprotectin is between 0-50 μg/g. If the detected value is higher than 50 μg/g, it indicates that there is inflammation in the intestine. Fecal calprotectin can also be used as a re-examination item for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. By detecting the value of fecal calprotectin, the treatment and prognosis of the patient can be determined, and if there is an abnormality, it is necessary to continue the treatment.
